The Giants are short home favorites, but this isn’t an easy game to frame after two very different Week 2 losses. New York has the stronger statistical profile in our projections, while the Titans just showed they can create turnovers and make a favored opponent work deep into the fourth quarter. The central question is whether the Giants can turn that underlying edge into enough reliable offense to cover a 2.5-point spread.
Two losses that tell different stories
Tennessee fell to 0-2 with a 24-20 loss to Philadelphia, but the Eagles didn’t score the winning touchdown until nine seconds remained. The Titans sacked Jalen Hurts three times, intercepted him twice and turned those takeaways into 10 points. Cam Ward finished with 183 passing yards and added two short rushing touchdowns.
The Giants’ 28-6 loss to the Rams was much rougher. New York produced only 182 total yards, and Jameis Winston completed 11 of 27 passes for 111 yards with an interception after entering on the opening drive. Winston is now atop New York’s depth chart for this matchup, so the Giants need a much cleaner offensive performance than the one they managed in Los Angeles.
There’s also a familiar face on the other sideline. Titans offensive coordinator Brian Daboll returns to New York to face his former team, a storyline ESPN highlighted ahead of the game. The reunion adds some intrigue, though the more useful betting question is whether Tennessee can move the ball consistently rather than relying on takeaways.
New York has the steadier statistical path
Our team projections put the Giants near 317 total yards and Tennessee around 267. The biggest separation comes on the ground: New York projects for roughly 129 rushing yards, compared with about 96 for the Titans. The Giants also hold a projected first-down advantage of approximately 20 to 15.
Those figures give New York the more stable route to sustained offense. The offensive depth charts have Cam Skattebo leading the Giants’ backfield, with Malik Nabers and Isaiah Likely among Winston’s prominent receiving options. Tennessee’s path is narrower: Ward needs to avoid drive-ending mistakes, and the Titans must create manageable situations with Tony Pollard leading the backfield.
Recent results are less decisive. Across their last 10 games, the Giants are 3-7 outright but 6-4 against the spread. Tennessee is 2-8 outright and 5-5 against the spread over the same span. New York owns the better statistical outlook, but neither team has consistently produced convincing results.
Defensive availability complicates the matchup
New York’s injury report deserves attention before treating the favorite as straightforward. Brian Burns is questionable with an ankle injury, while defensive backs Deonte Banks and Tyler Nubin are questionable with calf injuries. Their availability could matter against a Tennessee offense looking for a more sustainable route to points.
Tennessee has a backfield question of its own, with No. 2 running back Tyjae Spears questionable because of an ankle injury. Pollard remains the lead back, but Spears’ status still affects the Titans’ available rotation.

What matters against the spread
The latest DraftKings line makes New York a 2.5-point favorite with a total of 37.5. That low scoring expectation magnifies every turnover, short field and stalled red-zone possession. Tennessee’s disruption against Philadelphia provides a credible counterweight to New York’s advantages, while the Giants’ stronger yardage and rushing projections help explain why they’re favored.
The clearest case for New York rests on sustaining more drives and creating a steadier rushing base for Winston. The counterweight is a Giants offense coming off a six-point performance, along with uncertainty surrounding several important defenders. Tennessee doesn’t need to dominate statistically to stay close; another disruptive performance could keep a low-scoring game within one possession.
New York owns the cleaner underlying profile, but its edge will matter only if Winston protects possessions and the running game keeps the offense on schedule. Tennessee’s ability to create pressure and takeaways is the main source of resistance, making offensive execution more important than the modest difference between these teams on the spread.
