Florida is favored in Anaheim, but the Ducks have a credible way to make this uncomfortable. Our grades give Anaheim the stronger attack and Florida the advantage defensively, while our shot projections suggest the Ducks can keep the visitors busy. The key is whether Anaheim can turn that pressure into goals without giving too much back at the other end.
Anaheim has a case with the puck
The Ducks opened their season with a 4-3 win at Vegas. It’s a useful start, and our grades give their attack a B+ against Florida’s B defensive grade—a matchup worth watching beyond that single result.
Our shot projections put Anaheim at roughly 31 shots on goal, compared with 28 for Florida. That gives the Ducks a plausible volume advantage, with the quality of those chances and their finishing still central to how much pressure they can apply.
The other end of the rink is Anaheim’s main concern. Its D+ defensive grade leaves an opening for a Florida attack graded C. The Panthers don’t need to lead the shot count to create problems if the Ducks struggle to contain their chances.

Florida’s edge has a personnel wrinkle
DraftKings makes Florida the moneyline favorite. Our overall grades lean the same way—B- for the Panthers against C+ for the Ducks—but Anaheim’s stronger attacking grade gives the home team a meaningful counterweight. Florida’s case rests more on its broader balance than on an attacking advantage.
The Panthers also have two relevant injury concerns: top-pair defenseman Gustav Forsling is day-to-day with an upper-body injury, and captain Aleksander Barkov is on injured reserve with a knee injury. The team’s event-specific preview establishes that Florida enters this matchup without Barkov; Forsling’s availability remains a question.
Anaheim’s attacking grade and expected shot volume make its challenge credible, but its weaker defensive grade is the biggest obstacle. Florida has the stronger overall profile and a better defensive grade, with Forsling’s status adding uncertainty to that advantage. The decisive matchup is whether the Ducks can create dangerous chances while keeping Florida from finding easier opportunities at the other end.
