Colorado brings a six-goal bounce-back win into Nashville, but how much confidence should that buy at a -230 moneyline? The Avalanche have split their last 10 games despite some big scoring nights. Nashville offers a favorable matchup on paper—and is returning home after an overtime loss Saturday—but the useful distinction here is between Colorado’s stronger case to win and the demanding price attached to it.
Colorado’s advantage comes with some uneven results
Nathan MacKinnon had a goal and three assists in Friday’s 6-3 win over Tampa Bay. Artturi Lehkonen and Martin Necas also scored, while Nazem Kadri added his first goal of the season. That ended a pair of road losses in which Colorado scored just five goals combined.
We rate Colorado’s attack considerably higher than Nashville’s, grading the Avalanche A+ offensively against a C for the Predators. Our shot projections also favor Colorado: about 33 shots to Nashville’s 27. That’s a meaningful expected volume advantage, though Colorado’s recent results show that its scoring bursts haven’t produced consistent wins.
Nashville has won three of its last 10 games, but Saturday wasn’t a one-sided loss. The Predators led Pittsburgh until the final 1:06 of regulation before falling 3-2 in overtime. Steven Stamkos and Jayden Struble scored, and Juuse Saros made 34 saves. Nashville now returns home for the second game of a back-to-back, while Colorado hasn’t played since Friday.
DraftKings’ moneyline prices put Colorado at -230 and Nashville at +190. The stronger attack and more favorable schedule support the Avalanche’s favorite status. Their 5-5 stretch is a reason to examine the price carefully, though that record alone doesn’t establish whether the current odds offer value.

The 6.5-goal total has competing pressures
Colorado’s scoring upside meets a Nashville team that has scored two goals or fewer in seven of its last 10 games. The season’s betting results reflect that contrast: seven of Colorado’s 11 games have gone over their totals, while six of Nashville’s 10 have gone under. Betting one unit per game on those respective directions would have returned historical profits of 2.55 and 1.12 units at the prices available for those games.
The expected goalie matchup adds another wrinkle. Justus Annunen is expected to start for Nashville after Saros played Saturday. Annunen allowed six goals on 31 shots against Boston on Thursday—a difficult outing, but a one-game sample. Colorado’s expected starter, Mackenzie Blackwood, has an .891 save percentage across his last five appearances, including 31 saves against Tampa Bay on Friday.
At 6.5, Colorado’s attack and Annunen’s rough outing create a plausible route to a higher-scoring game. Blackwood’s recent save percentage also leaves room for Nashville to contribute, but the Predators’ repeated low-scoring nights push the other way. That tension matters more than simply assuming Colorado’s offensive advantage points toward a high total.
What matters most
Colorado has the clearer matchup advantages in attacking quality, expected shot volume and time between games. Nashville’s late lead Saturday shows it can stay competitive, but that came with 34 saves from Saros, while Annunen is expected to handle this matchup. Colorado’s uneven results keep the -230 price from being an automatic endorsement. At 6.5, the more useful question is whether Nashville can contribute enough offense to accompany Colorado’s scoring upside: its seven recent games with two goals or fewer are the strongest counterweight to the concerns in net.
