The Dodgers have scored 18 runs in two games against the Giants this weekend. Now San Francisco has to find a way through a deep Los Angeles lineup while keeping the top of the order from creating another long afternoon.
The latest moneyline makes the challenge clear: Los Angeles is a -287 home favorite at DraftKings, with San Francisco at +229. That’s a hefty price, so the central question isn’t simply whether the Dodgers have the stronger case. It’s whether their advantages are large enough to justify it.

Why the Dodgers carry such a big price
Los Angeles is 7-3 across its last 10 games, including 8-2 and 10-4 wins to open this series. San Francisco is 4-6 over the same span. The Dodgers’ most recent win featured another big game from Mookie Betts, who went 4-for-4 with three doubles in Saturday’s 10-4 victory.
Betts is also having a productive month. An MLB.com matchup preview notes that he leads Los Angeles with 20 RBIs in September. He’ll again set the table for a lineup that follows with Tommy Edman, Teoscar Hernandez and Freddie Freeman.
Kyle Tucker is out of the lineup with a knee and shin issue, taking one established bat away from that group. Even without him, our projections give Los Angeles an edge in underlying output: about nine hits and 15 total bases, compared with roughly eight hits and 12 total bases for San Francisco. We also project four Dodgers walks against about three for the Giants, an important difference if Wilkinson struggles to keep traffic off the bases.
San Francisco’s path to making this uncomfortable
The Giants need more than isolated damage. They’ve scored six runs in the series, but Los Angeles has repeatedly answered with bigger innings. San Francisco’s best path is to extend at-bats against Dreyer, put runners aboard for the middle of the order and avoid falling into another early multi-run hole.
Jonah Cox gives them a useful spark at the top. MLB.com reports that Cox has hit .317 with three home runs and 12 RBIs over his last 25 games. Victor Bericoto also homered in Saturday’s loss, so the Giants have bats capable of punishing mistakes. The harder task is sustaining that pressure for nine innings against a Dodgers club that has received production throughout its lineup.

How the market fits the matchup
The moneyline is the main story. The Dodgers are 95-60, own the deeper lineup and have home field, while the Giants enter at 64-91. Los Angeles has also dominated the first two games of the series, but -287 asks bettors to pay heavily for those advantages.
The total is 8.5 after the first two meetings produced 10 and 14 runs. Eight of the Giants’ last 10 games have gone over their listed totals, while five of the Dodgers’ last 10 have gone over and two pushed. That recent scoring provides some context, although the switch to Wilkinson and Dreyer—and Tucker’s absence—makes this a different setup from Saturday.
Final assessment
The Dodgers’ case rests on lineup depth and their ability to keep applying pressure after the first trip through the order. The Giants’ counter is a large underdog price, an improving leadoff hitter in Cox and the possibility that Dreyer gives them a cleaner opening than they found in the first two games.
The most important factor is Wilkinson’s command against the top of the Dodgers’ order. If Los Angeles is consistently batting with runners aboard, the matchup advantages that drove the first two games could surface again. If Wilkinson limits free passes and forces the Dodgers to build rallies one hit at a time, San Francisco has a more realistic route to keeping the finale close.
