Kyle Connor put five shots on net the last time Montreal held Winnipeg to one goal. Neal Pionk played more than 25 minutes without an assist in that 2–1 loss. Both outcomes can fit the same game, even when Winnipeg has chances.
DraftKings listed Montreal at −192. If you’re backing the Canadiens, the two options are Pionk to finish without an assist or Connor to put at least two shots on goal.
Compare Winnipeg’s setups and shots
Both records cover Winnipeg appearances across this season and last. The table compares Jets losses with the same player’s all-game record. Pionk’s line depends on a teammate finishing a chance he helps create. Connor can clear his line even when his shots are saved.
| Player & prop | Odds | With this result | All games |
|---|---|---|---|
| Neal Pionk Under 0.5 assists 2025–26 and 2026–27 Winnipeg appearances |
−215 | 87.2% (34/39) Jets losses |
78.8% (52/66) |
| Kyle Connor 2+ shots on goal 2025–26 and 2026–27 Winnipeg appearances |
−600 | 87.9% (51/58) Jets losses |
87.6% (85/97) |
Neal Pionk under 0.5 assists (−215)
Pionk finished without an assist in 34 of 39 Winnipeg losses and 52 of 66 appearances overall. He scored twice without an assist in the loss to Tampa Bay. Both goals counted toward his points, but he would still have stayed under this assist line.
He’s projected on Winnipeg’s top defensive pair and can play enough minutes to get opportunities even in defeat. He recorded an assist in 29:42 against Dallas and another in 23:42 in the later Florida loss. The under has landed in eight of 11 losses this season, a weaker record than the longer sample.
At −215, the case is that Montreal can limit the chances Winnipeg converts from Pionk’s setups. A goal of his own would leave the under intact. One pass that leads to a goal can beat it even if Winnipeg scores just once.
Kyle Connor 2+ shots on goal (−600)
Connor reached two shots in 51 of 58 Jets losses and 85 of 97 appearances overall. He cleared the line about 88% of the time in both samples. He has reached the target in all 15 games this season, including all 11 losses. The five shots in October’s Montreal meeting fit the case for a top-line winger whose opportunities can survive a low team score.
He had exactly two shots in Sunday’s 7–0 loss to Carolina. That was enough, but it shows how little room there can be even during his current run. The longer record includes seven losses in which he fell short.
At −600, the price is steep. Connor’s shot volume can hold up in a loss, but the longer record gives little reason to pay −600 just because you expect Montreal to win.
Decide how you expect Montreal to win
Pionk’s under is the lower-priced option and has a clearer difference between his loss and all-game records. Connor’s milestone fits a game where Winnipeg gets attempts on net without doing enough to win. If you expect Winnipeg to shoot without converting many chances, think about whether you’re more comfortable with Pionk’s assist under or paying the steeper price for Connor’s shots.
