If you’re building around a Calgary win in Edmonton, Mikael Backlund doesn’t need a big scoring night to contribute to the ticket. One shot on goal is enough for the first of these Flames parlay picks; Yegor Sharangovich finishing without an assist offers a different route.
That’s the idea behind Side & Support Parlay Plays: start with a winner scenario, then compare player props that have held up in that team’s wins. Here, a modest shooting target and an assist under give you two choices without requiring a Calgary scoring spree. You can follow the Flames–Oilers matchup alongside them.
Two player options for a Flames win
| Player / prop | DraftKings odds | In Flames wins | All appearances |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mikael Backlund: 1+ shot on goal | -575 | 89.2% (33/37) | 87.9% (80/91) |
| Yegor Sharangovich: Under 0.5 assists | -360 | 81.6% (31/38) | 84.3% (75/89) |
Records cover each player’s current-team appearances from the start of the 2025–26 season through October 27, 2026, including postseason games where played. Only completed games with ice time and the relevant statistic count; zero-stat games remain included. DraftKings individual prices were checked October 28 and can change. These historical records describe past games, not future probabilities or a quoted parlay payout.
Mikael Backlund: 1+ shot on goal
Backlund’s latest five appearances produced 1, 3, 1, 2 and 1 shots on goal. All nine of his appearances this season reached one, including the three Calgary wins he played in. The expected first-line center role gives this low target a sensible workload basis, although those three current-season wins are only a small part of the longer record.
The choice is how much shooting to demand. DraftKings lists 1+ at -575 and 2+ at -135: a $100 stake would return $17.39 or $74.07 in profit, respectively, if successful. The higher target would have missed three of his last five games. One shot asks much less, but the price leaves little payout for taking that risk.
Backlund still went without a shot in four of the sampled Calgary wins. Two came with more than 20 minutes of ice time, so regular shifts alone haven’t made this automatic. This option fits a Calgary-win build through a modest individual contribution, not a claim that winning causes him to shoot.
Yegor Sharangovich: under 0.5 assists
Sharangovich can help Calgary score without defeating this under. In one of his last five games, he scored a goal and put six shots on net but finished without an assist. He had no helpers in all five, and in nine of 11 appearances this season, including all five Calgary wins he played in. He’s expected on the second line.
The longer record is less emphatic: the under hit in 31 of 38 Calgary wins, compared with 75 of 89 appearances overall. That makes this a pattern that has often survived a Flames win, rather than one that improved in wins. Seven winning games still included an assist; one brought two helpers in only 16:21 of ice time.
At -360, a successful $100 stake earns $27.78 in profit. That pays more than Backlund’s one-shot option, with a lower historical success rate in Calgary wins. Under 0.5 means exactly zero assists; a goal by itself doesn’t spoil it, but even one credited helper does.
Choose the contribution you want
Backlund offers the stronger win record at the heavier price. Sharangovich’s assist under pays more and doesn’t require him to stay off the scoresheet entirely. Compare those tradeoffs against your Calgary-win premise and the prices your book offers; neither option needs to be forced into the same ticket.
