Nick Schmaltz went without a point when Utah scored five against Tampa Bay. Then he picked up two assists in a loss to Philadelphia. If you’re backing Utah against Toronto, those games help explain why the team result is only part of the decision.
DraftKings listed the Mammoth at −130. The two supporting options are a point from Schmaltz or fewer than two points from Toronto’s Auston Matthews.
Compare Schmaltz’s point and Matthews’s two-point limit
A goal or an assist is enough for Schmaltz. Matthews can finish with one of either and stay under 1.5 points. The table uses each player’s full same-club history across this season and last.
| Player & prop | Odds | With this result | All games |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nick Schmaltz 1+ point 2025–26 and 2026–27 Utah appearances |
−180 | 83.3% (45/54) Mammoth wins |
57.3% (59/103) |
| Auston Matthews Under 1.5 points 2025–26 and 2026–27 Toronto appearances |
−205 | 85.7% (36/42) Maple Leafs losses |
76.3% (58/76) |
Nick Schmaltz 1+ point (−180)
Schmaltz recorded a point in 45 of 54 Utah wins and 59 of 103 appearances overall. The winning sample is stronger, though the current difference is narrower. He’s recorded a point in seven of nine wins and 10 of 15 appearances overall this season.
Schmaltz is projected to center Clayton Keller and Dylan Guenther. His two assists against Philadelphia show how he can contribute without a goal. He scored and added an assist in an October win over Pittsburgh, then went without a point in a later win against the same opponent.
At −180, this is the lower-priced player option. The case is strongest if you see Utah creating goals through his line. The Tampa Bay and Pittsburgh wins show how the Mammoth can score enough to win while his point prop misses.
Auston Matthews under 1.5 points (−205)
Matthews stayed under two points in 36 of 42 Toronto losses and 58 of 76 appearances overall. He’s done so in six of eight losses and 10 of 16 games overall this season. He scored once in Toronto’s latest game, a win over Vancouver, and would still have stayed under.
The loss to Seattle shows the other side. Matthews had a goal and two assists in 20:08, even though the Maple Leafs lost. He’s projected to center Easton Cowan and Jack Roslovic, and two points would beat the under even if Utah wins.
At −205, the offer gives Matthews room for a goal or an assist. It fits a Utah-win view that leaves room for some Toronto scoring while limiting how often Matthews is involved. His current loss record is weaker than the longer one.
Decide where you expect the scoring to come from
Schmaltz needs one contribution from Utah’s offense. Matthews can contribute once and leave his under intact. If you expect the Keller line to drive Utah’s offense, Schmaltz is the cheaper option. Matthews’s under costs more and leaves room for one point, which matters if you still see Toronto scoring.
